Santa Rosa Day School is a Tohono O’odham Bureau of Indian Education (BIE) school serving kindergarten through eighth-grade students in the Gu Achi, Sif Oidak, and Hickiwan districts.

Enrollment Eligibility

To enroll at Santa Rosa Day School, students must meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • Children must be 5 years of age on or before September 1 of the school year to enroll in kindergarten.
  • All students must meet the requirements of the Code of Federal Regulations with the following exceptions:
    • Children of federal employees can enroll at the school nearest to where their parent is employed.
    • Students who do not qualify for BIE funding may be admitted with the school board approval.
    • Native American students living outside the Tribal boundary who are not enrolled members of the O’odham Tribe may be accepted on a space-available basis, pending school supervisor approval. Preference is given to enrolled members of the Tohono O’odham Nation.
  • Students who have been suspended or expelled from another school are not eligible for enrollment until their suspension has ended or the expulsion is withdrawn.

Required Documentation

We welcome new learners! Visit our office to pick up your registration packet. Please plan to provide the following documentation at the time of registration:

  • Completed Enrollment Application
  • Guardianship papers for students not living with their parent
  • Social Security number
  • Certificate of Indian Blood or Tribal Membership certificate
  • Birth record (birth certificate or baptismal record)
  • Primary Home Language Survey
  • Withdrawal form and Records Release form from the previous school (for transfer students)
  • Permission to publish student pictures
  • Immunization Records
  • Health Care Permission Form
  • Dental Treatment Permission Form
  • Tohono O’odham Nation Health Care Contact Care Form
  • Emergency Information and Check-Out Form
  • Internet Acceptable Use Policy and Agreement Form
  • Parent/Student Handbook Form
  • Parent/Student/Teacher Partnership Compact Form

Immunization Requirements

In accordance with Arizona state law, all students must be immunized prior to school entry. Immunizations help protect children against vaccine-preventable diseases. Contact Tohono O’odham Nation Health Care for information about when and where to vaccinate your child.
